Who are we looking for?

Niagara Bottling is looking for a top performer to help us build a new Packaging Engineering Department. The newly created role of Packaging Engineer is part of our Research and Development Team and will be based at our headquarters in Ontario, CA. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide technical support and specifications for packaging material requirements within the Niagara Bottling production facilities.  The position will ensure that packaging specifications, supplier processes and equipment design are aligned to first pass level of quality.

  • What will the responsibilities be? 
  •  

    • To comply with established key performance indicators and maintain procedures regarding Quality’s interface with other departments, this position will serve as a facilitator through which packaging ideas, requests, questions, and problems are resolved.
    • Combine technical expertise, solid project management skills and the ability to facilitate or lead cross-functional teams to provide a complete source of packaging services for our manufacturing plants.
    • Work closely with the operations, engineering and quality groups to provide technical support and be instrumental in ensuring that departmental and plant objectives are met in areas such as Safety, Quality, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
    • Recommend, develop, coordinate, and implement packaging changes, modifications, or developments for productivity improvements, quality improvements, cost savings, and new product development.
    • Assist in providing packaging specifications and drawings, and development of packaging testing methods to predict package performance
    • Establish construction and structural standards for packaging material
    • Issue detailed packaging specifications
    • Assist in maintaining an automated specification system for all packaging components

    What is required for consideration?

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Packaging, or a related field.
    • 3 to 6 years of package engineering experience.
    • Prior experience/interaction with Food Industry/manufacturing standards.
    • Proven ability to statistically determine equipment and packaging material compatibility through Design of Experiment (DOE) or other similar process.
    • Knowledge and experience with plant operations, processing and packaging equipment, preferably in the bottling industry. Experience in injection and blow-molding PET and HDPE a plus.
    • Demonstrated leadership, planning, organization, and communication skills.
